Classic Scones Recipe
Indulging in the scrumptious affair of afternoon tea would be incomplete without scones. Here is a recipe to make the perfect scones for your afternoon tea! Made with our butter they are a real culinary delight!
Ingredients:
- 85g Cotswold Butter, softened
- 35og self-raising flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 3 tbsp caster sugar
- 175ml milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Egg, to glaze
- Jam and clotted cream, to serve
Method:
- Preheat the oven to 220°c. Sift the flour and baking powder into a bowl, then add a pinch of salt.
- Rub the butter into the flour until it forms crumbs. Next stir in the caster sugar.
- Make a well in the crumbs and pour in milk and vanilla extract and combine
- Place the dough on a floured surface and fold the dough together. Take a 5cm butter and dip it into some flour. Press into the dough to make your scones!
- Brush the tops with a beaten egg then carefully arrange on a baking tray – making sure they are not too close together!
- Bake for 10 minutes until they have risen and golden on top. Serve with a generous amount of jam and clotted cream!
- Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly. Slice the bread into individual servings and serve warm
